I think that a lot of people don't know about what happened in Holland during WWII. I certainly didn't! That is until I stumbled on a very large memorial wall in a small, enclosed cemetery in Eindhoven listing all the people - many entire families - who died over the course of a few days in September 1944. As soon as I could, I rented A Bridge Too Far to get the gist of what happened. The movie is brilliant description of Operation Market Garden and the tragic folly of war.
For those of you not in Holland who may not be familiar with its WWII history, here's an interesting, lengthy post I just found from a blog written by four Dutch women Holland in World War 2.
